FAQs for Prospective OBC Students
What GPA do I need to graduate from OBC?
You are required to have a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (with an A+ equaling a 4.25 GPA) to graduate from any OBC program.
How can I talk to an instructor?
If you’re trying to learn more about a specific program at OBC, please call the campus nearest you and ask for an Admissions Representative. The Admissions Representative will put you in contact with the correct instructor based on your program of interest. You are welcome to call, email, or make an appointment to come in and meet with our knowledgeable instructors.
If you’re a current student who wants to speak with your instructor, you can talk to him or her before or after class, visit during office hours, or call or email to set up an appointment.
How do I decide on a major?
At Ohio Business College, we’re dedicated to placing you in a career you care about. Our staff and faculty will guide you through your education, from choosing a major to assisting you in finding a job after graduation. Throughout your application process, you can talk to your Admissions team member about finding the right program for your interests and goals.
How do I obtain a copy of my transcript?
An Ohio Business College transcript is the official record of a student’s enrollment at OBC, including all completed courses and diploma and associate degrees obtained. At the request of the student, an official Ohio Business College transcript can be sent to a U.S. college or university for admission purposes.
Who can I talk to about financial aid for college?
Paying for college can be stressful. Our team of Financial Aid Administrators are here to help you navigate your options and make developing a financial plan for your education simple. In fact, every new student will meet with a Financial Aid team member one-on-one to assure all questions are answered. Financial aid, such as federal grants and loans, are available to those who qualify.

Do you offer help with classwork? How do I get it?
You get access to free tutoring for every class you attend. Simply set up a tutoring session with the instructor of your class. As an Ohio Business College student and alum, you are also eligible for free refresher courses covering classes you’ve already completed.
How can I sign up my friend for classes at OBC?
Refer your friend to our online application. You can encourage them to note your name as the referrer on the application.
Do I need a computer to complete the classwork?
You will need a computer to complete many of your class assignments. You can access the computers at Ohio Business College campuses and your local libraries.
Where is Ohio Business College located?
OBC currently has locations in Sheffield Village and Sandusky, Ohio.
The Ohio Business College Truck Driving Academy is located in Middletown, Ohio.

What should I do if I don’t understand my syllabus?
If you have questions about your syllabus, set up an appointment with your respective instructor when he or she is available.
What should I do if I have an issue with a student, faculty member, or staff member?
At Ohio Business College, we value the Head, Hands, and Heart Philosophy above all else. If your personal education experience, which corresponds to our Heart value, is negatively affected, we’re here to help. First, approach the individual calmly and kindly to explain your problem. If the issue persists, please contact your local campus Director of Education who can guide you through the reconciliation process.

What should I do if I have to miss class?
Attendance is documented at each class meeting. You are expected to attend all classes, just as you are expected to attend every day of your future job. Administrators and faculty members at Ohio Business College do not distinguish between excused and unexcused absences. Each class meeting missed counts as an absence, including any scheduled make-up classes. Please notify your teacher as soon as you know you will need to miss class. Request information about the class content and any make-up work for the day you miss. And refer to your orientation manual for program-specific attendance requirements.
What should I do if my car breaks down?
Please refer to your class’ attendance policy. Ohio Business College doesn’t differentiate between excused and unexcused absences. Notify your instructor about missing class as soon as possible.
How do I know if OBC is closed due to weather?
Ohio Business College lists school closings on local news sources, including ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX. If you want to know if school is cancelled, we recommend checking your local news station’s television broadcast or website. Also, you can check your OBC email account or Facebook page for school closing announcements. For the Lorain County and Sandusky campuses you may also check iAlert.
How can I replace my student ID?
