  1. Tell us about what you do and the contact you have with Ohio Business College. 

I am a Recruiter II/HR at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. My job is to assist managers, directors, and employees with employment issues, interviews, and present new candidates for employment [including OBC graduates].

I assist new hires through the hiring process. I handle employee relations and leadership in recruitment by developing, planning, and implementing recruitment strategies for assigned areas of responsibility to ensure qualified staff are available to meet hospital needs and to reduce turnover.

I also supervise HR Assistants, track recruiting expenses, and plan and coordinate all facets of the hiring process to ensure compliance with UH programs, policies, and federal regulations.

  1. What programs at OBC do you recruit from?

Medical Administrative Assistant, Medical Assistant, IT, HR, and Business Administration.

  1. What does University Hospitals look for in a new hire?

Knowledge, excellent customer service, teamwork, willingness to learn and grow, and professionalism.

  1. What do you think sets OBC graduates apart from others in their field?

The knowledge they have within [their respective] fields.

  1. What advice or tips do you have for prospective and current OBC students who are looking to work in a medical setting like University Hospitals? What can they do to increase their chances for employment and career success?

Being hired in a healthcare organization can be very competitive. The more knowledge you have about the field you are in, the better off you will be.  Recruiters look for candidates who have a well-organized resume, effective listening skills, are professional, and are willing to go the extra mile.
