Medical Assisting Externship
Medical Assisting majors at Ohio Business College participate in a 180 hour externship that provides an opportunity for the student to gain experience working in one’s field under the combined supervision and evaluation of both a cooperating local medical facility and Ohio Business College.
Medical Assisting Externship:
- Exposes students to the real application of the skills and competencies acquired in the classroom which include front and back office procedures.
- Allows the student to assess skill level in a real office application
Helps transition the student to the world of work.
- Builds a student’s self confidence by successfully completing assignments at the workplace and showing the student the value of the education one has acquired.
Medical Assisting Externship allows Ohio Business College to evaluate the effectiveness of training provided to students. Through feedback from both cooperating sites and students, Ohio Business College can evaluate and implement changes in curriculum or teaching methods, which will best accomplish the ultimate goal of student employment.
