What is Accreditation?
According to the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, accreditation is the assessment of the quality of an institution and its programs and services. These assessments are measured against strict standards and assure that an institution has met and is maintaining a high-level of those standards.
Different programs require different accrediting agencies. For example, Ohio Business College’s Medical Assisting diploma program is accredited by a separate agency and must meet different standards than OBC’s associate degrees in Applied Business.
How Accreditation Affects Students

Since the U.S. government does not regulate post-secondary accreditation, false accrediting agencies can mislead prospective students. Because of this, it is important that students confirm the credibility of an agency before choosing a school or program of study.
